Day 11 - Its Over

This morning I weighed in at 137.6, so a 10.2 weight loss in 10 days. I did not know how to begin my day today, so I ended up making a juice anyways! For lunch I had a chicken caesar salad...turns out eating meat is bad idea though...Nearly 5 hours after I ate my lunch I nearly sh!tted myself, im not even close to playing either. I had some cornbread when I got home and a grapefruit for dinner...I will probably not have meat for a while...

Day 10

Ok, so clearly I am not the blogger, but its day ten. I am done! It is 11:09pm and I am about to go to sleep. This morning I weighed in at 138.4! Nearly a ten pound weight loss in 10 days, sweet! I did cheat here and there, but overall I am still happy with the results. My face has cleared up a little and I am sure if I continue on it will clear up more but I am not going to do that. I still will juice one or two meals a day for the next few days as I introduce food back into my diet. I am hoping to keep my weight under 140.

I would definitely recommend this 10 detox to anyone and I am thinking about doing it every other month!

Day 5 - Breakfast

I weighed in at 141.8...allright!

This morning I made lettuce, carrots and spinach for breakfast. I was supposed to add some fennel to make it taste like chocolate milk but the organic store I went to didnt have any...oh well! It is drinkable.

I made a carrot, orange, ginger with a hint of lemon juice for lunch, which tastes delicious by the way, i cannot wait to drink it, but I still havent finshed drink the 10 ozs of breakfast yet(its 11:40am)...so yea...

Day 4 - Dinner

So last night I went to an organic grocery store to get some fruits and veggies that hopefully wouldnt make my throat itch and hurt. I bought 5 vine tomatos, 1 butternut squash, 2 oranges, some romaine lettuce, two garlic floret thingies and a pound of organic carrots.

I guess I was feeling adventurous because I attempted a butternut squash soup.

I modified a recipe I found online

I juiced the squash, which was a pain in the ass and probably wont be happening again. Trying to separate the skin was annoying. Then juiced an half an onion, a few garlic cloves, and a green apple...It was edible with tons of potential

Day 4 - Lunch

Didnt have time or feel like making any, drank water.

Day 4 - Breakfast

1/2 grapefruit, 1.5 plums, a mango, ginger...maybe an apple...i dont remember...it was good.

Day 3 - Dinner

Vegetable Broth

one celery stalk, three carrots cut up, onion, garlic, and basil leaves

I put them all in a pot of boiling water and added some sea salt and crushed red pepper. It smelled very good, it tasted good too, but not as good as it smelled. My intention was to only drink the broth and toss the veggies but I ended up eating the celery and a few carrots and onion...

It would have tasted better if I let it simmer longer but I was hungry and impatient!

Day 3 - Lunch

I think I made...

carrots, spinach, and pear juice...

Day 3- Breakfast

This morning I weighed in at 143.6, and my stomach is hurting a little bit as if I have to "eliminate" some more. Sweet! Even though I am not really doing this for weight loss because I know it will not last onc eI start eating real food again, seeing the numbers drop on the scale definitely does provide incentive to keep on going.

Breakfast - 2 Pears, 2 Nectarines, a few big handfuls of spinach, and 5 strawberries.

So I am pretty sure I am also allergic to Nectarines...my throat is itching and hurting like crazy, but I refuse to take benadryl because I must stay awake at work, so hopefully drinking water will help!

Day 2 - Late Night Cheat :(

So last night a friend from high school was in the area and around 9:30 or so asked me to come pick him and his girl up and meet up with some other folks from high school. First we were just going to be at Starbucks, which I figured I could handle, then we decided to shoot pool at the place called Winstons, even better! I would be distracted and wouldnt have to think about food. Damn, pool league night or some crap...not a table available...so then we go to, dun dun dun....the Silver Diner.

Basically long story short, someone ordered a black bean quesadilla...ironically the one item that i have had from there and thoroughly enjoyed. So she finishes all but one wedge and knowing that am really hungry they began to taunt me with the wedge....Taste it...ok well just smell it...it has vegatables...its a whole wheat tortilla...mmmm

So I broke, ate the wedge, then tried Brian's Apple Pie ala Mode, then went home and tried one of Peter's chicken wings(the little ones like hot wings)...so there we have it, I cheated BUT I refuse to start over, so on to Day 3 as if nothing happened!

Day 2 Dinner

I dont have time to talk much about it right now, but just wanted to post what I ate so I dont forget!

3 Tomatos, 2 Celery Stalks, 2 Carrots(peeled them this time, not as much throat itching), some onion, three cloves of garlic, third of jalapeno pepper(not de-seeded), a dash of sea salt and dash of crush red pepper.

One Word: Delicious!

Day 2 - Lunch

Last night I made my lunch. It consisted of a few handfuls of spinach, 2 red apples, 2 celery stalks, 1 bunch of green grapes and a 1/2 inch of ginger. From when I tasted it last night it was good. I hope not too much has changed. I did freeze it so it is currently on my desk thawing out...

Man im tired! I wish I could just go home and nap. I am getting hunger pains periodically but I refuse to drink my lunch until it has thawed out. I am sipping on water instead, which I totally forgot existed.

Lunch was tasty! Once it thawed, I sipped on it for about an hour. I still got hunger pains around 3, but I just kept drinking water. Around 4:30pm I had some good earth tea to get my mind off of eating.

Day - 2 Breakfast

First of all I got on the scale this morning (mind you i do this every morning, regardless if I am on a fast or not...i know a little obsessive, oh well!) and it read 145.0...down 2.8 pounds from yesterday.

I am really tired this morning, but I think that is partly due to the benadryl I took last night because my throat was still irritated from those daggone carrots. My throat feels much better, I will keep the carrots for dinnertime so I can take a benadryl afterwards and go to bed.

So for breakfast I had 6 oz of raspberries, more than half the container of strawberries, a mango and a quarter of a lemon. When a mango is juiced the consistency comes out thicker and kind of like a smoothie! I enjoyed that. All that made about 18oz of yummy goodness which I wanted to slowly sip on for a few hours, but ended up finishing it in about 25 mins.

One thing I did realize this morning is how much washing this damn filter is getting on my nerves. Granted it takes about a minute or so, its just everytime i finish juicing im like dang, I gotta do dishes AGAIN. Clearly i will get over it, I have no choice...

Day 1 - Dinner

First of all I had to run out to grab a different juicer from a friend of mine. He told me he had bought the Jack LaLenne juicer awhile ago and only used i a few times. Sweet! Now I can take back this $150 Cuisinart juicer because I dont think that it was worth that much solely based on the amount of liquid still left in the pulp.

I also bought some basil, beets, and jalapeno peppers while I was out.

I decided I wanted something more savory for dinner. So I washed a couple of handfuls of kale, a tomato, some basil, about a third of the jalapeno pepper (de-seeded), and a grapefruit. It ended up juicing to about 16oz. I think I was going for some Italian tomato bisque like mixture in my head. In reality it was nothing of the sort. The only good thing about making something this mediocre to barely drinkable is I have something to sip on for at least a half hour or so because I cannot down it any faster!

Day 1 - Lunch

12:56pm, just finished my "lunch". A few handfuls of spinach, one handful of parsley, a granny smith apple, a red delicious apple, 3 celery stalks and half a lemon. Made 16 oz, I have only drank about 4 so far and put the rest in the fridge, I think it will taste better cold. It was still good though! I have to say I was skeptical about the spinach but I dont think it adds much flavor, I mostly taste the lemon and apples. Sweet!

What they say

So in the days prior to the juice I told some people of my plans. A few reactions:

  • GTFOHWTBS face (google it)
  • A trainer at the gym told me to pretty much get ready to stink to high heaven as all the nastiness comes out of my body. AND I wont even be able to smell myself. Ew...*bout to stock up on baby wipes and deodorant* She also said that I will feel sick for the first few days and probably want to quit, but stick with it.
  • By one individual (you know who you are!) I was told that the concept of a de-tox is a gimmick for the masses. And no he is not a nutritionist...

Day 1 - Breakfast

Went to Safeway and bought the following:

4 of each: Red Delicious Apples, Granny Smiths, Plums, Pears, Lemons, Tomatoes
2 cucumbers, 2 white peaches, 2 nectarines, a pound of strawberries, a little carton of raspberries, a bag of celery, bag of carrots, bag of kale, two bags of spinach, some fresh parsley, ginger root.

I was supposed to buy beets, but apparently I just never knew what beets look like in the store cuz they looked nasty! I couldnt bring myself to buy them...I am hoping the ones in Harris Teeter or Whole Foods look better...

All of that came to 46.76, I am really interested to see how long it last.

So I just made my "breakfast". I decided to go with the morning zinger recipe from the Cuisinart which consist of some parsley, a granny smith apple, an inch size of ginger root, and three medium carrots. All of that made about 10 oz of juice. It was pretty good! The ginger is pretty strong though, I might add a little less next time. I am excited for my next meal, but imma take a nap first...partied hard last night!

Oh yea, so I am somewhat allergic to apple skin and carrots, they cause my throat to itch. I have known this for a while but I usually try to ignore it, mind over matter right? Wrong! Carrots in this quantity was impossible to ignore, I was clicking and snorting for about 20 mins after I had my drink, and then it because a little sore. Not cute! ...so i think I might either stay away from carrots for a little while or just have my Benadryl on deck!

The beginning...

First of all this De-tox was inspired to me by Diana. A couple of months ago she had me watch the documentary, "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead". Its about a guy that wants to get off his medication and lose weight and basically get healthy. He juices for 60 days and accomplishes his goals. Now today, Diana is towards the end of her juice and still swearing by it and recommending it to all who want to feel healthier. She got me!

Now I realize I am not fat (granted considered borderline obese by that stupid BMI measurement), nor am I sick or nearly dead. BUT I can spare to lose a few pounds and clear up this skin of mine. The de-tox is about more than just loosing weight its about fixing the body from inside out. I am keeping a daily photo log of my face each day, though I am not sure yet if I will share it! lol. I am also tracking my weight each morning. Today; 147.8 lbs.

I want to write more, but its 9:14am September 25th, and I am beginning to get hungry. I need to go get some fruits and veggies and do the damn thang! Hereee we go!
